Best Concert EVER...
October 19th 2006 03:10
Now, for a music snob, I will tell you, I don't like concerts. I mean no disrespect to the gods of music when I say that. It is a very personal thing. When I am listening to new music or music that I really love, I have to be alone. The room needs to be quiet...the music has to be loud. I do not like to share my experience, my love for "this" music with anyone until after I have listened to the whole CD all by myself. But I know a lot of people love to concert hop.
My friend, Tinkster, goes to concerts all the damn time. I don't know how she does it but she sees everyone and she loves it. It's actually pretty cool when she gets new tickets. She calls EVERYONE, she is so damned excited. I have gone to four concerts in my entire life:
1. Conway Twitty/Randy Travis-(with my mother who could not find anyone else to go.)
2. New Kids on the Block-I blame Aqua Net Hairspray. My hair was very big in the eighties, all that hairspray I used lodged in my ear canals, blocking my hearing and therefore, made them sound good at the time?? OK OK, I was still at tier one. (Jordan had a cute ass.)
3. Janet Jackson's 'Im slowly disappearing and soon any values I am currently promoting with my rhythm nation cd will become a waste because I am going to have more surgery than Michael and become a big sex goddess." tour. (It was pretty great...I admit it.)
4. Vince Gill- I think it was the 'I'm a blowfish' tour.
Now before you totally spaz out and wonder wtf I am hosting this blog, those were years and years ago, the aqua net and tier one and all that...Here is what I want to know from you...my tiered friends,
Do you like concerts? Who have you seen? Who was the best? The Worst? Unplugged or not? Tell me what turns you on about concerts...what turns you off? Do you camp out to get tickets? Do you scalp the day of?
Tell me everything...you might just make a concert junkie out of me...

Rock above the Falls (the original Falls Festival) was great too, I saw a very fresh silverchair really show up, and the Hoodoo Gurus (Aussie) brought it out too.
I love a good outdoor/multiple artists across multiple days festival.

You need to catch up to Tinkster...she is on here a lot, a real music fan. You two would hit it off based on the rock n roll hall of fame, she is dying to go there.
I love AC/DC. I remember the first time I ever seen them perform...they just blew me away. The sound, the lights, everything was just amazing.
Thanks for stopping by,

It was the best live performance I have ever seen in my life. He sang almost every song I wanted to here, in ways that I could not have imagined him singing them. When he sang Hard Rain, Tangled up in Blue, LIke a Rolling Stone and Masters of War, I swear it was among the most amazing things I have ever experienced in my life.

I am picturing you just out of your head mesmerized...and that is so cool. The excitement you felt at seeing him perform is obvious. Thanks for sharing that with me! I can definately see the appeal of a concert, seeing someone whose work you love, in person. I just don't want to share that with a bunch of screaming, boob flashing, people who just don't get it...or to be fair, don't experience what I experience when I hear really good music.

That was when Sydney had an amazing live band scene and I was able to see Tea Party at a tiny pub in the inner city. I also saw Powderfinger in their very early days (Reap What You Sow anyone??), Front End Loader, Skunkhour, Max Sharam before she went on a talent show, Paris Green at the old Sando ... ah, those were the days.
But the best gig EVER - Rage Against the Machine at the Hordern Pavilion in the early 90s. 10,000 people all moshing to the angry, electrifying sounds of this incredible band. The atmosphere was just zapping with energy and I was on a completely natural high. What a buzz. I loved those guys. Thank heavens for Audioslave. Chris Cornell is the sexiest man to see live. Perhaps with the exception of Mike Patten from Faith No More. Stalks the stage like a panther. I need to take a cold shower just thinking about the two of them.

Our bodies do age and perhaps that prevents moshing but when you are alone and you are listening to that music, aren't you right there in your soul moshing with the best of em? *smile*
I can see the appeal of a concert where everyone in the 'room' loves what you love...Tell me what it is specifically about Chris that makes him so sexy while he performs. Is he just so intense? Anytime I see an Aritist that is almost neglectful of the fact that they are performing before an audience, it's a turnon to me. I love to watch the passion they have. It's almost as though they shut down in a way and it's them against their demons.
Do come back,

2) He cut his hair at the perfect time when I discovered short haired men and left my early 90s music behind and entered the late 90s.
3) He's an amazing performer. Intense, sexy, singing with that incredible voice of his, which I honestly believe is the best voice in the rock world (perhaps with the exception of the chick from Evanescence - ashamed to say I don't know her name).
4) It may just be my imagination, but I swear he was wearing leather pants. Oh yeah, baby.

Evanescence's Amy Lee is who you are referring to and I concur...she has an amazing voice that just grabs you. I think she has the voice of a fallen angel.
Well, Chris Cornell obviously has you wrapped...there are a few that get me bothered too...but we have mentioned them all at length today!
Everytime I see a pair of leather pants, I am going to think of you, you know! *smile*
Have a good one...

Fallen Angel - I love it. Such a sublimely perfect description for the wonderful voice.

You know what? I think we are much more similar than we may think...Do you know that I want to see Billy Joel more than anything??? LOVE him...love his lyrics. Maybe we should get together, get some tickets sometime and go on a little roadtrip...I'm game if you are!
