Is Today's Music Oversexed? BuckCherry's 'Crazy Bitch'
November 23rd 2006 02:37
WARNING: This post contains some graphic use of the words 'fuck' and 'bitch' out of absolute necessity. If you do not like the use of the words 'fuck' and 'bitch', please do not read this post. I would hate for you to be offended by the overuse of those two words, (fuck and bitch.)
I was sitting in my very uncool minivan listening to my very cool stereo, flipped a couple of stations and then very loud and clear, I hear the following:
'Crazy Bitch' by BuckCherry
"ALL RIGHT...........
Break me down,
you got a lovely face,
we're going to your place and now you got to freak me out
Scream so loud,
getting fucking laid,
you want me to stay
but I got to make my way
Hey you're a crazy bitch but you fuck so good I’m on top of it,
When I dream I’m doing you all night scratches all down my back to keep me right on
Take it all,
the paper is your game,
you jump in bed with fame another one night paid in full
You’re so fine,
It won’t be a loss,
cashing in the rocks just to get you face to face.
Get the video, fuck you so good
Get the video, fuck you so good
Crazy Bitch,
Crazy Bitch,
Crazy...
Bitch
Come on. Baby girl you want it all to be a star you’ll have to go down
Take it off no need to talk your crazy but I like the way you fuck me
keep it right on
your crazy but i like the way you fuck me."
This is BuckCherry's first big hit, even though they have three cds out. My guess would be that maybe this is the only song "suitable" for radio...*shaking my head*
Now, I consider myself a very cool person, -(despite my minivan)-, and the music behind all the "fucks" and "bitches" was actually very good and right up my alley. A little reminicent of Nickelback with acute attention deficit disorder.
But I have to tell you...I was very torn by this song. On the one hand, you could definitely strip to it, you could have some headbanging sex to it, and you can even dance to it. It's a very well rounded song, I'm saying. On the other hand, I was looking for the number to the radio station to ask them if they were on drugs -(in moderation, for you hippies out there. I kid, I tease, I jest) - to play that song during the middle of the day on a radio station that is very popular with preteens and teenagers.
The only word out of all of it that was beeped out on the radio, (they do that in Indiana and Illinois that I know of, but not in Texas, as far as I know.) was the word 'fuck'.
I was in the middle of a parallel universe. 'Mama uh, Mama uh' -(as my friends call me)-came face to face with Muzikal Mafia Boss. It was not pretty. While the Mafia boss in me has a really good right hook, 'Mama Uh' is like a very large rabid bear and the object of my attention may as well be covered in honey. Mama will tear you up if you mess with her cubs.
So, there I was, in the middle of the parking lot at work, in my uncool van with my cool stereo, a bad song that I liked and wondering if my daughter was listening to that song at the same time. It got me wondering about today's music and considering whether or not it has just gone too far.
Does music today rely too much on sex and violence to sell CDs? Does it really matter? Have you heard this song? Does the radio bleep out "bad words" where you are? What's your take on the issue?

can't wait to hear the music that plays along with those lyrics. I am sure it is just as sexy as the lyrics.
Yes, I said sexy. They defintely do something for me. Certain ones hit close to home. I feel for you with
your struggle about wanting to call the radio station. I do feel that our kids are getting to listen to things
that are really not apropriate, but great that it makes a part of you want to strip! This is why we love
music......

This is why everyone loves music?? Because it makes us want to strip?? I thought it was because of the talent, the feelings, the genius? I tease...
It is one of those songs that definitely stirs up feelings. Not necessarily of admiration but uhmmm...feelings of another more base nature. *smile* I don't have a problem with the song. I just have a problem with it being on the radio. It is just too graphic for kids to be listening to, I think. But then again, there is alot more out there that is just as bad or worse.

fact that music can make you smile, sing, or want to dance or strip....whatever. That is why we love
music.

Take a look at a hip-hop group, and the only time they don't sing about sex is when they're singing about how shit hot they are or how they want to kill someone.

I agree with you! That is why I love grunge music. It just isn't like that. The lyrics are about struggles, life, problems, angst, it is not about how many positions they can do.
Today's music, for the most part, the commercial stuff is all about sex, because as cliche'd as it is...sex sells.
Come back for my post on Chris Daughtry's self-titled, debut CD, which will post tonight. I think you might have some more to say...

Oh, I know who you are talking about...and no, I can't remember their name, either. Don't care to remember it. Commercialism has been the death of good music. That is what this site is all about. Getting people to listen to good music again. I CAN'T stand pop music, I can't stand music that is just garbage and I have no problem with someone saying FUCK it! In fact, I encourage it. This is also why I differentiate between artists and performers.
Come back, Luke!
