Official Muzikal Mafia Rant & Rave: Kanye West

November 21st 2006 02:11
One person who irritates me in music today, (no, it isn't Britney), is Kanye West. I cannot tell you the amount of irritation I feel right now at even typing his name. When his shit-(no other word for it)- comes on the radio, it is turned off faster than you can say, "brokety-broke".

This irritation was not helped with Kanye's recent hissy fit at the European Music Awards over his loss for Best Video. Now, I know all of you have seen it and read it and are probably sick of it. But, I thought I should include a pic of it here just in case someone had fallen off the face of the earth.

Kanye's Bigassed Temper Tantrum (www.msnbc.msn.com)

Do you see how the winners for Best Video, Justice and Simian, are just incredulous? I don't know which is which, but the one in the back looks like he is going for his gun. And damn well, they should be! WHO does that? (Besides Faith Hill, and even she didn't rush the stage.) During his tyrade, he said his video should have won because it, "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons.”

Uhmmm. Ok. Two points I would like to make. First, will someone please explain to Kanye that computer similiation is not the same thing as a stunt? My guess is Kanye doesn't get his own mail for fear of breaking a nail. Second, as for having Pamela Anderson in your video, well, god man, who hasn't?? At least Tommy Lee was having sex with her in his video, so technically, that trumps having her stand there. If she were on her knees for you, Kanye...different story.

This was the dumbest thing I have ever seen...and that is saying something considering I have watched Paris Hilton's sex video and read some of Britney Spears' lyrics.

This is your chance...is there something going on in music today that irritates the living hell out of you? (No offense, Hellvis.) Is there a trend that you can't stand? A particular genre that is overrated? An iconic artist that you would strangle-(if that were legal?) Is there someone that you feel is completely overlooked by music fans today?Tell me about something that you can't stand in music today...Spill it!!

(On a side note, I just realized that this post makes me look like a porn hound or something...)

I'll be the first to jump in here - and with admittance that I did NOT see that awards show and do not listen to his music. The moment I decided I detested him is when he was featured on the show Punk'd. The prank was to stop production on his video under the pretense that a certain (gag) license was not obtained first. His reaction was absolutely disgusting! Here's a guy preaching Christianity and he straight up tried to steal and run when he thought his precious film was in jeapordy.

He's arrogant beyond imagination - and that show proved exactly how low he'd stoop to protect his own egotistical interests! Ever since I saw that show, I change the station. He's an ass - it's that simple.

Voices,

I'm surprised, yet impressed that you're a porn hound. lol. But that's another topic altogether.

I also can't stand Kayne West.

Actually, the artists I dislike the most generally fall into the RnB/Hip hop categories. It's filled with artists who are mediocre at best, think they're amazing and all the music sounds so similar. I love it when you find a hip hop artist whose sound is really original.....however, unfortunately they're few and far between.

Another person who really pissed me off was Ashlee Simpson. After she got hammered by the public for her woeful superbowl singing (last year or whenever it was) her publicist tried to say that the public shouldn't be so harsh as she's still a developing singer. My thoughts are - hey if you've got yourself a multi-million dollar record deal, then don't expect me to listen while you 'develop' your singing voice. Sorry, there are too many talented artists that are worth the money they earn.

I could rant for hours, but I'll spare you. I'll just say lastly that my other really big pet peeve is artists who lip sync. I was outraged when Madonna lip sync'd at one of her concerts. When the public are paying in excess of $100 to watch a singer perform, it's fair that they expect that singer to sing live. And I really hate it when artists claim they lip sync because they're dance routines are very vigorous. Guess what? You're a singer, not a dancer. People don't pay money just to watch you shake your ass on stage....they'd like to see you sing too!

Whew, I feel much better for having gotten that off my chest!

Wendi,
I am so thrilled that we agree! Yayyyy, my world makes sense again! *smile* Kanye is one of those quasi-artists who just does everything wrong, wrong, wrong. He's an ass.

KylieW,
Ok, let me just clear up the porn issue. I have seen some of 'A Night in Paris'. It was the most boring thing on earth. I mean, I have seen more enthusiasm from a couple of flies. As for the Tommy Lee/Pamela Anderson video, I wish. I have not seen it and I probably won't. (wait, how did this clear up anything??) I am not a porn hound...I swear. I am much more into stripclubs. I TEASE, I JEST...

I am glad you don't like Kanye. I think I am going to start an anti-Kanye movement.

I did see the Pamela Anderson/Tommy Lee video. *LOL*

My ex had more porn than most adult book stores, so I've seen my share if that makes ya feel better.

Wendi,
Pm me and tell me if the video was any good! lol

The AMA's are tonight, maybe Kanye will rush the stage again! *smile* One can always hope...and maybe there will be some security guards with violent tendencies if he does.

You know, I just realized that if Kanye were reading this, he would be saying, "We were talking about ME not the video...Let's talk about ME again!"

Hello Voices, Queen of Words, Don of Muzikal Mafia, Doyenne of Musical Knowledge and...porn hound??
(Oh hang on...you cleared that up.)
...and...strip club patroness???
Can I come?
Kidding...I tease and jest too...but really, if you're going....

It's late my side of the world, it's in the am but felt like reacting to the PM.
So I came to visit.

This is soooo funny!!! Funny, funny post!
I didn't see his tantrum but have seen a snippet of this video. Watched more than I wanted to because he's a wannabe Evil Kneivel in this...the audacity, how dare he?
I can't stand music like his. I don't like this trend of rap-bastardising old school, cool songs.
Can't think of anything much right now...eyelids want to meet....

Voices my sweet, I will come back in the dawn...

Dusk,
You can definitely come...err uhh, if I did that sort of thing, which I don't, but if I did and we were in the same country, I would so go with you to a stripclub, you know, if I did that sort of thing.

His tantrum was GREAT. The Queer Eyes Guys were all like, "Damn, Diva!"

Thank you for commenting, as always!

As for the PA/TL video, all I can say is I felt horrible for Pamela having it spread everywhere that way, no pun intended. It was extremely explicit - and it IS true what they say about Tommy Lee. *smirk* - I wouldn't want that thing anywhere near me - but it's clear why she keeps going back to him.

Wendi,
Well, at least we now have it on good word from you that Tommy Lee is multi-talented and gifted...'nuff said.

I wouldn't worry too much about Pamela, Wendi. There is NO way that tape got released without her permission. The tape was in a huge huge vault that was imbedded in their floor. Somehow, someone got into their house, and managed to get that thing out of the floor and taken to another location to be opened, (per PA on the Tonight show). I kind of think they did it for publicity, she is not exactly afraid to display her body...

Well, displaying her body is one thing... but they had a huge tray of marijuana and were smoking a huge fatty - I'd think for legal reasons, you'd want to keep that under wraps, no?

And you're right - people do the darndest things for publicity - even Paris Hilton jumped on that band wagon! And how many boobs have we seen pop out on the red carpet?? I'm sure if Kanye had 'em, he'd be lettin' 'em pop out too - but since he doesn't, all that's left is to rush the stage, right? *LOL* (just trying to get back on topic here).

Kanye's ego has over-inflated to the point of breaking.

I thought that one big album was pretty good, and I was impressed with some of the production. Since then, he's been kissing himself all over for his music, which he considers a new form of art.

What trash! Did you hear the song he did for Mission Impossible 3? It was garbage, and the producers took it off the soundtrack or something. It sounds like he's just putting in random beats...

Time for him to fade...

Wendi,
I don't know about that...legal issues don't really mean the same for celebs as they do for us common folk, now do they? lol Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I give you exhibit A...OJ Simpson.

I don't know if it was intentional or not...I am always highly suspect of anything celebrities do. It's all about the green and the be seen.

Cibby,
My friend, we agree on an awful lot.

I didn't hear the song but I did hear it was awful. There is only so much I can handle of him. About one hook...that's it, and then he's outta there!

When he rushed the stage, the whole time I am thinking..."He isn't, he couldn't, he won't, he wouldn't! GODDAMN he DID!"

Again, it was a way to get his face out there...again. As if we needed it.

I think Kanye will be kept around for kicks a while longer and then he will do as the hasbeens do...he will fade to black in the back of a police car...if he's that lucky.

Come back,
Voices~
